How does the abortion pill work?

The abortion "pill" is actually a two medication process that involves multiple office visits (2-3). It is now approved by the FDA to end a pregnancy through 10 weeks or 70 days or less since the first day of a woman’s last menstrual period.

Is Plan B the same thing as the abortion pill?

No, they are two completely different kinds of medication.  Plan B is designed to be used when it is too early to get a positive pregnancy test; the abortion pill is designed to be used after a positive pregnancy test.

What else is the abortion pill called?

Mifeprex, Mifepristone and RU-486 all refer to the abortion pill.

Are there side effects of the abortion pill? What risks should I know about?

Risks vary by person, depending on the medical history and present health of each individual.  For a medical history review, including a pregnancy verification, by a licensed medical professional, call 601-487-1064 to make an appointment or click here
